8:00 pm: THE LANSKIES

After a very productive 2010, marked in particular by the release of the Bank Holiday album (Indelible Records /Discograph) and a Chinese tour, The Lanskies have been back in the studio to record an EP forecasted for October release. The band is established as one of the breakthrough acts of 2011. The new EP with its new track “Roméo” will introduce their unique “Hot Wave” sound.

9:00 pm: HINDI ZAHRA

With just the slightest of nonchalance, a filigree of swing in the delivery, and a delicately veiled voice, meet Hindi Zahra and her gently undulating sense of melody. With a subtle, understated guitar accompaniment, a dash of gypsy flavor between the lines and a hint of blues, time stands still. Intense, intimate, poetic vibrations, with a velvety feline timbre, Hindi Zahra is a revelation.
10:00 pm: THE TWO

Seven years ago Ara Starck met David Jarre in Paris. She was a painter, he was a magician. Their meeting produced magic of another kind, crystallized today in The Two, a duo that weaves together its members’ atypical career paths, and melds their singularities in a shared intimacy. The Two’s music feels like an invitation to dream with them in their own secret garden. On their debut album Ara and David are seemingly rediscovering the magic of uncluttered melody, primary sound colors and simple words, all underlined with strength and elegance by their vocal harmony. As though improvised, The Two’s music speaks with a rare natural voice.

11:00 pm: REVOLVER
You just gotta love a classically trained rock band. Ambroise Willaume (vocals, guitar, piano) and Jeremie Arcache (cello, vocals) met at France’s prestigious Maitrise Notre Dame de Paris music school, The pair later teamed up with Christophe Musset (vocals, guitar) to form the basis for their current band, REVOLVER. While their name is taken from the influential Beatles album, it’s a fitting description for the group’s evolving sound. Pairing classical chamber music with influences such as Elliot Smith and The Velvet Underground might seem like a particularly daunting task, until you hear the masterful way they pull these influences together. The second LP is coming to North America in January 2012 (EMI / ASTRALWERKS).

12:00 am: CHATEAU MARMONT

Chateau Marmont found themselves and each other through synthesized music, so bright and remote in its promises of infinity and eternal bliss, yet so hard, cold and disturbing when its outlook turns dystopian.
They come from a place where people still believed in the future; A time when the proto French touch, helmed by Space and Jean-Michel Jarre, dominated the airwaves. The Alan Parsons Project and classic French soundtracks (think Francis Lai) still radiate through their music. Their name, and the sound of Chateau Marmont is resonant of widescreen romance, vintage melancholia and studied postures. The debut LP is coming to North America in early 2012.

9:00 pm: STRANDED HORSE

“Humbling Tides” is the second album in the unique kora/guitar/vocal songwriting idiom explored by Yann Tambour, now known as Stranded Horse.
Written largely during a spell living in Bristol, UK and recorded in the serene coastal environs of Normandy in North-West France, “Humbling Tides“ continues along the path embarked upon with “Churning Strides” effecting subtle but significant changes to a musical formula that finds Tambour melting disparate musical modes and cultures – shades of the mandinka tradition of West Africa, medieval folksong, Fahey-esque fingerpicking, French chanson and more can be discerned – into one bold, fluid and graceful new form.
Stranded Horse has been silencing rooms and flooring jaws with his solo live show throughout the UK and Europe this year, in support of the release of “Humbling Tides”.
10:00 pm: THE INSPECTOR CLUZO

The Inspector Cluzo is simply one of the best international live act from France, excelling in crazy shows, high energy chaos, and the occasional smashing of drums. The band has just delivered a great record, more bombastic, powerful and thrilling than ever before. This is true rock infused with heart and soul.
11:00 pm: ZENZILE

Zenzile continue to blend seemingly contradictory influences (post punk, dub, folk, soft rock, soul jazz) with a savvy sense of their own sound in order to produce a unique album every time. For Pawn Shop, their 8th album, the band has deliberately let their pop spirit open up, Strings and organs are more present than ever to form melodies never dared before. Zenzile dig deeper into influences reminiscent of their teen age years. Shadowy organs, bony guitars, ramping bass, the spirit of Bela Lugosi glides above Pawn Shop. There are also lingering feverish memories of ESG, Pink Floyd, Nick Cave, and PIL- but everything is digested and sublimated only to be more accomplished.
12:00 am: YUKSEK
There always was a pop heart beating inside Yuksek’s unique brand of electronic dancefloor bangers. Always catchy hooks hidden between the acid loops, hints of glam and indie infiltrating his energized house beats. Tunes like ‘So Far Away From The Sea’ and ‘Extraball’ from his acclaimed debut album revealed a powerful pop sensibility, deeply rooted into a lifelong affinity to artists as David Bowie, Gary Numan and The Cure, but also a devoted love for Lou Reed circa ‘Transformer’, Serge Gainsbourg, early West Coast-rap and the Warp label.
